Fingering Corriedale and Gotland
Corriedale / Gotland 4 ply blends 80% white Corriedale wool with 20% light grey Gotland wool. Gotland wool is naturally grey which, when combined with the higher proportion of Corriedale wool, produces a light grey yarn that dyes up into beautifully rich heathered colours with a gorgeous sheen.
The Gotland is an old long-haired breed of sheep originating from the island of Gotland in Sweden. The sheep has long, lustrous locks and the spun yarn is light and warm with a wonderful drape and subtle halo. Corriedale wool also has a long staple, with a beautiful crimp that makes it naturally springy. Much loved for its cosiness, durability and next-to-skin softness, Corriedale is a great all-purpose yarn and one of our most popular wools.

Care: While all fiber has a final washing and is rinsed until the water is clear, some dye may still exist and you may experience some “crocking” - this is when the dye transfers to your hands while knitting. You may also see some bits of leftover raw dye materials in your yarn; this is especially true for yarns dyed with cochineal, sappanwood sawdust, weld plant, and marigold.
Due to the unscientific nature of how I approach natural dying, you may see some “imperfections” in the yarn. Embrace them.
To maintain the color of your yarn, keep out of direct sunlight for long periods of time and hand wash with a ph neutral soap in cold water.
